It's about time that the VA starts to pay for some of the incompetence that it has shown in its' medical care for Vets, SGT (Join to see). Hopefull the intensified scrutiny will mean that VA medical personell will be forced to actually do the jobs that they were contracted for. Instead of the taxpayers pockets, however, the money to pay the settlements in these cases should come directly from the VA personell who were involved in the "indiscretions", any bonuses normally due should be denied to these people for about 5 years, and the corresponding funds used towards the settlement.

All of the comments I've read here are spot on... and great ideas. I am still waiting 7 years for treatment. I don't think its going to come any time soon. I recently received a card that will enable me to se a civilian doctor, but when does it become valid for use? How long must I wait before I get to the point of no return? Does my leg have to fall off before I can see someone? The VA has attempted to make good on their promises to "do better", but it seems that they are slipping back into the "old school" mentality and I have dropped off the planet again!

Wouldn't it be worth the cost, any cost, if things had improved? Isn't it a shameful waste of time and money, any amount, since it has not only not improved, but also gotten worse?
