I have read just about everything written by or about Winston Churchill. Pefect? Of course not, but he was truly larger than life. Indeed, I cannot think of many befitting that epilogue. He was a warrior going for broke and inspired a nation and a world to fight when most would have surrendered. I cannot think of many communities, other than RallyPoint, who could appreciate him more

I find it so appropriate that he was a junior officer in the attack of the 21st Lancers on the disorganized forces of the Mahdi in the Sudan in 1898, an attack that ran into an undisrupted infantry formation in a ravine and had to cut their way put of a very bad situation. Somehow, Churchill riding in one of the very last "lance and sabre" charges in world history seems too good to be true.
