Calling your opponent a scum-sucking, back-stabbing, bottom-feeding lawyer is hardly an attack on the 6th Amendment... especially when it's all true.

Spot on. Unfortunately understanding the Constitution is not a pre-requisite for politicians. Problem is that politicians from both parties are guilty of this and similar lapses of "Constitutional knowledge". Although I think it is a stretch to call it a war on the sixth amendment. It is just a person in search of power who is too lazy to find a real argument or who thinks his electorate is stupid.

Well here we go again with misinformation. The first ten amendments, known as the bill of rights, CANNOT be changed or amended per the Supreme Court. They are the original amendments written by the Forefathers therefore CANNOT be changed or amended.
