The man and his daughter died while trying to cross the Rio Grande. While that of itself is a tragic story, I fail to see how it has anything to do with the US. The US doesn't have an obligation to let in any foreign nationals who seek asylum anymore then you have an obligation to let homeless people live in your house. If you're against letting complete strangers live in your house then perhaps you can understand why some Americans are opposed to foreigners sneaking into the country.
If anything, I think the man's desperation to engage in such a dangerous act speaks volumes about the poor living conditions of his home country.

People are literally risking their lives to get in to the US, not just away from wherever they came from. How does this reflect badly? Too bad Congress doesnt want to address immigration reform...
