Once upon a time, Scouting was an excellent way to learn how to survive, or at the very least, live comfortably with little more than a tent and a sleeping bag.

Now a days they teach you how to survive long enough until you find civilization. That’s why so many people end up dead when caught out in a wilderness adventure turned wrong.
My ex husband used to watch a lot of those survivor shows. I told him it’s a good thing I now how to survive more then 30 days in the Wild hahahaha or we would be doomed! He didn’t like that at all. CPT Jack Durish.

Scouting is still a good way to learn those things. Our American Legion Post 208, Millis, MA sponsors a Boy Scout Troop 115 in Millis, MA. Today they had a ceremony for three more Eagle Scouts in the troop. Last year there were six new Eagle Scouts. They still have the camping, outdoor activities in woodland or mountain areas, whitewater rafting, canoeing etc. survival skills. The number of boys that have earned the Eagle rank in the troop in the past few years as well as the Troops History is outstanding. The Legion Post also has always been invited to those ceremonies and participated in the honors these Young Men have learned on the path to the Highest rank in scouting, the Eagle.

SFC (Join to see) - I haven't watched Survivor in several years but on an early version one of the contestants was voted off the island and quipped, "I'll send the Coast Guard for the others. They won't be able to survive without me." He was correct except that the producers of the show provided just enough to keep them from cannibalism

SMSgt Lawrence McCarter - Forgive me but I've never been overly impressed with the Eagle rank other than it does take dedication and perseverance to earn. However, in the end, it is a collection of merit badges that denote exposure to many different skills without truly mastering any. The Quartermaster rank in Sea Scouting, on the other hand, is earned only after learning and demonstrating mastery in a narrow set of skills including piloting, seamanship, and small boat handling.

I have an old mining ditch that runs though our property. I was thinking of turning a section of it into a root cellar. But it on accession has water that runs through it. Nothing big, but I would definitely need to lay some water pipes.
But yes I think it’s funny how people spend hundreds of $ buying weed killer to kill weeds. When really those weeds are natural medicines. I always add dandy lion leaves and miners lettuce to our salads. Dandy lions are natural healer for many things, some cancers included.

Dandelion root if prepped properly is good for stomach ailments and it can be used for the dogs stomach problems as well. Willow bark is a natural headache remedy. I keep books on natural medication. The best healer of course is our own mind... Have a great day SFC (Join to see) .
