Probably 13 years ago, me and another Security Forces member were sent down to train and conduct convoy security exercises with a sister comm unit down at a huge field training area. Well we had a huge ammo allocation and when I picked it up from the weapons storage area, the ammo guys told me: "If you bring any of this back we'll kill you". So I planned accordingly and brought both of our M-60's, and coordinated borrowing one from the training facility we would be at. Well when all was said and done, those comm geeks left us with a lot of leftover ammo. Something like 13,000 rounds of linked... Something about comm officers not enjoying shooting the PIG. So me and my buddy Blue sat in the dirt on the training range shooting / changing barrel, shooting / changing barrel, all damn day. We killed all the rounds, and broke 3 M-60's. Then had to fix 3 M-60's. Hey, it was an impressive pile of brass though...

SSG Warren Swan - We had 3 barrels per gun. Let me tell you, I was wicked pissed at Ammo over that. It was always the same song and dance too. Don't bring any ammo back. Just because they didn't want to have to count and turn in rounds. Guaging those barrels was a fun little treat for us. We had to replace a couple of them. Luckily this was shortly before we switched to the 240B's, so those old PIGs didn't get much action after that.

Sounds like a great way to bid farewell to the PIG! Let's roast it then shelve it! I worked as a line officer for my old CATM shop who was always trying to skirt re-count/re-allocation process. It was kind of nice when we went out for MK-19 training with an F250 Stake Bed full from bed to top rail with over 200 cans of ammo! We killed off all of it through 3 HMMV mounted and 4 Tri-pod mounted MK-19s in about 2 hrs!! All while a group of butter bars were practicing their calls for fire! Never seen soo much destruction on one range! I think the CE guys were upset that they had to replace all of the "DEMO" vehicles we lit up!

TSgt (Join to see) - See that's what I'm talking about! We Always took plenty of extra HE and HEDP just for us instructors when we did MK19 classes. One of the perks of being a CATM Instructor haha. Let us unleash a little destruction once the class is done firing. I mean pro rounds... But that day with the PIGs was grueling. That was a lot of friggin ammo just to burn off. You get to that "seriously there's more belts left" level of irritation haha.

TSgt (Join to see) - I've never been a fan of the MK19. That was one weapon I hated. The plus side of this is, it never got hot or really dirty. Slap some whale sperm on it, load it, charge it, and here we go.

Nothing will ever compare to the PIG!! I was so sad when it was pulled from the Armorys. FPS Russia shows exactly why we need to bring it back to life!
