Evidently the Marines are using these big beasts for flood and hurricane recovery. I remember seeing these vehicles in the middle of the desert in Iraq.

Screw these things, my sqd and myself almost died on one during a shore to ship movement for pre-deployment training. The exhaust system broke inside the troop compartment. Then while on deployment we had one sink.

what goes up MUST come down... but for AMTRACs, what goes down doesn't have to come back up

Hate the damn things... would rather fall out of an airplane.

I can see the lawsuits for "Human Rights Abuses" already...

My son's unit is leaving for the Orange/Port Arthur area today. He is a Section Leader in his AAV unit. These things can certainly add value in the lift capability and ability to navigate both land and water.

Looters may not want to mess with these things either.
