Thanks for sharing TSgt Joe C. the intrepid acts of U.S. Navy Lieutenant Stephen Decatur as he led a military mission into Tripoli harbor to destroy the captured American vessel U.S. frigate Philadelphia. His mission was a significant and heroic victory which included: attacking the Tripolitan crew of the Philadelphia, capturing or killing all but two of the Tripolitans. "After setting fire to the frigate, Decatur and his men escaped without the loss of a single American. The Philadelphia subsequently exploded when its gunpowder reserve was lit by the spreading fire."
