As a SWO who worked on the design of the combat systems (as a lifelong Chef Engineer that should tell you how messed up the program was), there are some really good ideas in the platform it was a matter of execution. Having a class of ships with 2 different designs is problematic to say the least. The fact that the main selling point was the "plug and play" ability to switch out missions quickly (like molasses in winter quickly in reality) is a disaster... what they should do is scrap further buys, use the ones we have as test beds for new technology, and work on a unified, proven design.

Can you imagine the frustration of those ship’s crews? Everyone that I knew while on AD did all they could to make their ship a reliable fighting ship. Must be depressing Manning these white elephants.

MCPO Roger Collins - I had to train the CS folks, and there weren't even TTP to their ships. Everything was being made up (which is normal for new ship class), but this was ridiculous. I couldn't even imagine the frustration of the engineers with such an unreliable plant. What really frustrated me was that the Swedes built a very similar ship with very similar characteristics. It had been in service for over a decade and all the bugs had been worked out. Instead of buying a proven ship, we decided to try something completely new.... and now we get this beast...

Jack could not agree more! If that vessel is really as bad as they say make a natural reef with it I dont give a shit. However, our country and the men and women defending it need the best not some half ass version. They need to fix it now before this becomes a chapter in a history book discussing the horrific tragedy.
