Interesting but I think someone is confused about "The Cold War". An exchange of nukes sufficient to make man extinct is what kept The Cold War cold. The principle adversaries, the US and the USSR, allowed others to fight skirmishes for them. I don't believe that is happening today. The USSR no longer exists and its former members are in possession of aging nukes and delivery systems that grow less reliable by the day. The rising nations such as India and China do not possess either the nukes in sufficient quantities nor the will to use them to intimidate others. There simply is no New Cold War and the US exercises its existing ones and keeps them updated to prevent being caught with their pants down as happened twice during the 20th Century. The greater concern is that terrorists organizations might come into possession of nukes and use them without regard for the consequences. This is plausible inasmuch as today's principle terrorists belong to a death cult. In this scenario, there would be nothing "cold" about the war.

SPC Britanny *Winnie* Balthaser Intersting article, but I've got to agree with CPT Jack Durish assessment. I don;t think we should call it a "Cold War". I think we need to concentrate on the nations that hate westerns and Americans in particular. With some many pouring into this country there could be so many sleeper cells (individuals and groups), planning, waiting, and programmed to cause havic throughout our country when called upon by those that plan daily to kill infidels in the name of (whoever knows) depneding on the day, week, month, or year. Just my opinion! Great post and thought provoking!

BTW, on this topic. Very good National Geographic Special on Vladamir Putin narrated by former SecDef Robert Gates in on the Cable TV now, if you can watch it or find it via youtube. I highly recommend it for figuring out how Russia operates under Putin its very well done. I believe personally if Putin saw it in his immediate interest and he might get away with it, Putin wouldn't flinch to launch or detonate a Nuke or two against or within the United States.

Putin is really in a box with the sanctions and I think he is counting on U.S. or European elections to change his fortune in that respect. He has funded Western European far right groups to try and build an alliance there and get them lifted via a European country. I am really concerned that there is no off ramp for the sanctions other than Russia to say "Uncle". I think that is going to back Russia into a corner and they are going to cross the line somewhere with their behavior.
