Well, the last time China was the predominant civilization, they dispatched a Treasure Fleet to visit other places giving away treasure to demonstrate that no one had anything (other than giraffes) that they could possibly be interested in. Maybe they'll do that again?

I occasionally do that - but thought this was a read worth seeing .... despite it being rather one sided and not able to grasp some things it sees more in black and white. I still am not much of a fan of anything that takes only a US/PRC or PRC/US try of focus - and misses out that there is more to the picture... and more than numbers..

Sgt Wayne Wood - Roger that. My reply was ment to say I saw it as one sided - but I just pulled a comment from it vs actually said up front that it was interesting in what it was saying.... but more so.... interesting in what it was not saying in its perspectives..

World powers all look to control others in the name of reducing global risk or increased international security. China is no different in this regard and neither is Russia for that matter. Each is using others to satisfy their own power-hunger at the cost of innocent lives. China and Russia will never stop supporting the DPRK, with or without UN sanctions; however, if they can use the DPRK to support their thirst to tame the US, this makes perfect political sense. The DPRK abrogates the UN Armistice and neither China or Russia penalize Kim; China and Russia supported the DPRK during the Korean War - the Communist Connection.
Soviet Union (now Russia) attempted to use roads and pipelines to grow its empire; this feat failed. China wants to grow the New Chinese Silk Route thru Asia and into Europe and Africa. A strategy mirroring that of the failed Russian feat. This New Strategy is that of influence thru development and China has had some success and a few deterrents.
Our strategy should not be to get bogged down by threats from a rogue state; our strategy should be to work with friendly nations to develop free trade and industry, and open borders, within a bubble of safety, security and trust; harboring or allowing known terrorists to use national resources to harm another state or to influence another people is deemed criminal and punished. Laws should become uniform across borders.
