The five states with the most outbound domestic migration are California, New York, Illinois, Massachusetts and New Jersey. As such not surprised to see that California, Massachusetts and New York added the most new cities with average home values above $1 million.
The five states gaining the most movers are Florida, Texas, Arizona, North Carolina and South Carolina.

However its not just the high taxes and cost of living that is driving residents from these states.
A lot of this is related to policies in these states and the “NIMBY” (not in my backyard) mentality.
A prime example is policy that calls for defunding the police. Not a shocker that this policy causes crime to go up - thus making houses in nice gated communities to be in higher demand and as a result cost more. So its a "defund the police" but not in my neighborhood mentality.
The bigger issue is not only does these increases the cost of homes in the nice gated areas is as well decreases the value of homes where crime is high. This directly impacts those with lower incomes by devaluing their equity while spurring on higher crime. This as well impacts other areas besides wealth like public education.
Three core initiatives of the Democratic Party platform are affordable housing, economic equality, and educational opportunity. That's what the liberal elite claim they represent - at least that's what I get from the yard signs - yet in reality for most of them its more like million dollar homes in gated communities and expensive private schools for the children.
List of top private high schools - a good number of them are in CA, NY, MA - again not surprised.

For sure every state has problems, but many blue states excel in areas that create large disparities in inequality compared to their red state counterparts. So its not the Republican opposition fueling inequality in America its the “liberal hypocrisy” of the liberal policies that's driving the inequality.

That's a lot of pretzel twisty SPC Stephenson. CA is the most populous state. It has the highest GDP of any US state. If California were a sovereign nation, it would rank as the world's 5th largest economy, ahead of UK and India and behind Germany. It ranks 6th in per capita personal income as ranked against other states. CA in fact pays ~$14 Bn more to the federal treasury than it receives in benefits. As do many of the 'blue' states. Broadly, blue states fill the treasury while red states drain it all while complaining about their taxes. Now this relates to the blue states tending to have higher paying jobs and more population density, but still the irony should not be lost here. And since when is the personal choice of a successful American to send their kids to the best school they can afford, somehow not a good thing. Why should I be angry at the guy who worked hard and so could afford a really nice car or house or school, etc. Yes high taxes are a concern, but their wages are higher than the average. Certainly the digital revolution is making people more mobile. I for the life of me can't understand why anyone would move to the desert southwest. I'm sticking right here in the midwest next to all this fresh water.
