SGT John " Mac " McConnell - Don't recall anything about this conflict from high school American history. Only 'remember the Maine' and 'The Roughriders' in the Spanish-American War. Even in Marine Corps history nothing was said about it except special emphasize the Samar campaign and the Marine's cross country march through the jungles after the main battles had been fought. From the description of the methods and tactics used by the US it was not a period to talk or brag much about. I had no idea of how brutal the US was in that conflict.
