The Air Force has the same issue. Retaining career fields that pay a LOT more on the outside is tough. We're just beginning to feel it in the IT field with Sysads, Netads, and cloud service experts. We train 'em, get them certified, and then they realize they can get paid double or triple on the outside, and "poof."

Good luck trying to fix a problem that was created by the same organization because of poor talent management and robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Ready Force X and Gutting the ARNG Aviation? I also partly blame the Blended Retirement System for making aviators not want to stay 20 years. Say that the Blended retirement system can allow those aviators to leave and take their retirement money with them (which is true) but, that also means that they don't stay.

LTC (Join to see) the blended retirement system was created to give more "need" for military civilian employees, aka more federal government workers.

I was looking at different agencies to get my last 8 years to make 30 years; then I heard I could come back with letters and become an officer. I’m thinking about it.

It's not really a big issue until they start upping the retention pay. You just keep upping that until the hemorrhaging stops, then you reach your sweet spot.
