This is a fascinating look at the influence the Scots-Irish have had on American music. My first-couple on the McFarland side of the family came from Ulster, Ireland. He was an Ulster-Scot, a Scottish Protestant, and she was an Irish Catholic.

Chief, now I understand why I fell in love with Bluegrass music the first time I heard it over fifty years ago, because I was raised on Classical music, but Classical wasn't "me". Those old rhythms are part of my DNA. They're in my blood.
