Author was wrong within the first paragraph. 2nd Amendment gave the lawful individual the right to protect his/herself. First part of the amendment acknowledges that a well-functioning militia was necessary to effectively protect each respective state since the idea of having a standing Army wasn't a thing yet. Funny enough: the only branch protected by the Constitution in its right to exist is the Navy (and Marine Corps).

It's really hard to comment on articles like this. I will never understand why there are individuals out there who can't face up to the fact it's there, written reviewed, ratified and approved.
