A seat lieutenant colonel reserves who fought in Afghanistan is the Secretary of Defense in Canada. lots of racism by drunk rednecks here in Canada who call 6 bad names and tell him to go back to their Arab countries and those guys would say something like we were born here and we're Sikhs not Muslim.

In SWTC, as an Instructor in the mid 80's we Used to get Dozens of Sikhs every summer ... They were coming thru the Spring and Summer Special forces Classes… Many were Reservist and IRR doing 21 to 90 rotations...
Most were extremely well educated and willing to talk about their religion .
Many I still communicate with...
I learned the difference between the Turbans they ware, and the Reason for the beards and the difference between Islam and The many religions of India...
I have nothing but Honor and Respect for them...
