Meals on wheels was not the target of the Presidents budget plans, the budget cuts that President Trump is calling for could potentially affect Meals on Wheels, but likely won't according to everything I've heard. The problem is that the things President Trump wants to cut, tag on organizations such as Meals on Wheels, so that if their funding is cut, they can claim it as an attack on Meals on Wheels or whatever humanitarian cause they are using as a shield. It is similar to rider bills on legislature where they say a person voted against education if they vote down the blatantly wasteful bills that some elected officials try to push through. Vote against their bill and your are "voting against education, veterans, or family values. Don't let the politicians hide behind what the real targets of the budget cuts are, by claiming a tiny sliver of their funding is affecting organizations such as Meals on Wheels.

Meals On Wheels is NOT a government-funded organization. This is just another result of FAKE NEWS whipping people into a frenzy. MOW is a great organization, but they are not directly funded by the federal government, so what is the big deal?

Just another pushing Granny off the cliff stunt. I provided a reference earlier on this lie and here is another. Shame on anyone that uses these scare tactics on the needy to demean our president.

MCPO Roger Collins -"No matter how you slice it, if federal cuts occur, people will go hungry.
There's no doubt this is a valuable program worth keeping. Here's a look at Meals on Wheels impact by the numbers.-----------------------------
500,000
The number of veterans Meals on Wheels serves each year. That's more than enough veterans to fill the Rose Bowl five times. ‌

1 in 6
The number of U.S. seniors who struggle with hunger. That's just over 16%, or about 7.7 million people. ‌‌
---------------------
51%
The percentage of Meals on Wheels home-delivery clients who live alone. ‌
-----------------
87%
The percentage of Meals on Wheels participants who are physically unable to shop for groceries.
----------------------
But for every alarming statistic, there's hope and good news.
----------------------
92%
The percentage of Meals on Wheels participants who say the program helps them to remain living in their own home.
----------------------
‌$2,500-$2,800
The cost of one year of MOW meals for one senior. That's about how much three adults spend on Christmas gifts.
--------------------------
2,402,920
The number of seniors Meals on Wheels programs served in 2016. That's like serving lunch to the entire populations of Minneapolis, Denver, Memphis, Sacramento, and Orlando. ‌‌
--------------------------
217,985,263
The number of meals served by Meals on Wheels programs in 2016. If each meal came with a slice of sandwich bread, that bread placed crust to crust would stretch from Seattle to Miami and back about four and a half times!

Not enough data? There's plenty more where that came from.
Meals on Wheels visits may boost medication adherence rates as much as 14%. Daily Meals on Wheels visits may reduce participants' feelings of loneliness. Meals on Wheels deliveries may even reduce the risk of falling in the home, especially for people who've suffered a previous fall, a particularly high-risk group.

The evidence is clear: Meals on Wheels is vital and necessary.
Like many of President Trump's proposed budget measures, this is a heartless cut that saves very little money in the long term and tears at the very moral and communal fabric that makes this country one of a kind. ‌‌

And yet, nothing published by the Trump haters regarding "meals on wheels" is true. Great list showing the results of the past eight years, but the budget cuts noted in your OP, is a flat out lie.

If Meals on Wheels (MOW) is going to face Draconian cuts, what is the amount of the cuts and what is the "money trail"? Federal money flows to MOW via many sources and Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) are a very, very, very small part of it. If you ever want to be pissed at the Federal Government, Local Government, and grant savvy neighbors at the same time, for the same reason; ask your county commissioners to reveal the CDBG grants that were awarded in your county.

In my county four different grants for goat fencing were awarded for a total of $4,317, for "hobby" farmers. All four of these awardees live in residences valued in seven figures. They have household incomes that probably put them in the top 10% of incomes in the county. They are not farmers raising goats for commercial meat, dairy, or fiber purposes. None of them has more than eight goats (other than kidding season). The goats are $#&%^%!&%^ pets. I know cause I sold them most of their goats. My hobby hobbies are fishing and hunting feral pigs, maybe I should see if I can use your tax dollars to fund me.
