Over 5 trillion in revenue and 6.48 trillion in expenditures. Oh yay! Our elected officials have a spending problem.

Believe it or not, I heard a Pvt in Germany say that.

At 13 had my first checking account. The bank lady told it wasn't how many checks I had but how much money in the account that mattered. And my Dad taught me how to balance it.

All of these crazy ads for debit cards discourage me. Why are so many people unable to maintain a normal bank account? We don't teach essential skills for life in the schools, apparently, just a bunch of social engineering scenarios about "Why Jeffrey Has Two Daddies" and similar crap. My parents taught me to run a budget, maintain a bank account, and to save money.
