Might be a different recruiting environment today........when I did it in the mid 70's........it was like walking out into the community and subjecting yourself to a hate storm. Viet Nam was still fresh in everyone's mind, they had just done away with the G.I. Bill as we knew it, they did away with the draft (so nobody had to go), stuck me in the Northern suburbs of Chicago (where all the money is), and told me to "go get 'em"........it was a ton of fun. At career days in the high schools, I could look forward to being called either "Gomer" or "Baby Killer".........don't know which one pissed me off the most. I'd write a book about it.......but I'm not sure there is a statute of limitations that applies to some of the things we had to do to make our quota. Hope things are better out there today......

SSgt Gary Andrews Sorry you had to go through that. Sounds like a rough situation. Quotas for military recruiting seem like a silly idea. Especially now with government budget issues, and cutbacks.

I was recruiter and I have to say it was rewarding to be able to change the lives of young men and woman. And the only thing I lied about was getting married after they graduated AIT!... hahahahaha .... seriously insane at how many times I was asked by enlisted! Lol

SFC (Join to see) One of our RDCs (Navy DI) said not to get married during our first enlistment. "Don't do it, if it is real, she will wait. If she can't wait, better to save yourself the hastle." I really wish I had listened to him.

Hahahaha yea I saw a lot of that. A few come in with there girl friends and girls always came in with their dads, uncles or brothers... lol... And you gotta LOVE the ones who come in with prior service... hahahaha those were irritatingly fun! But yea, I had to give the quick sexual harassment brief just to get through The initial qualifications paperwork. Lol... so I always made a deal with them, if they graduated AIT I'd consider their proposal. Hahahaha. I never got married though.
But my little brothers DI at Ft Jackson threatened him for not giving him my phone number... hahahaha ... I think it's just the red hair ;)

How recruiters are in each branch of the military once they get you in their office.
