Everyone has an opinion... as for me I don't agree. Memorial day is about honoring our fallen heroes and nothing to do with the death of Christ.

That's essentially what the article says.

I have personally had enough of people giving voice to their judgment of the quality of the spiritual and patriotic observance of Memorial Day. I have heard far too many critical opinions, in far too many forums about how we (Americans) observe Memorial Day. This rant is not aimed at anyone in particular, but if it does apply to you...

__MY observance of Memorial Day has just the right amount of spiritual and religious reflection.
__My observance of Memorial Day has just the right amount of somber reflection and grateful recognition of the sacrifice of others.
__My observance of Memorial Day has just the right amount of small town parade, and cemetery formal observance.
__My observance of Memorial Day has just the right amount of family and friends; burgers, ribs, corn on the cob, orange fluff, and pot-luck delicacies; beer, wine, ice tea and hand-squeezed lemonade; jet skis, horseshoes, and screaming kids having water balloon fights.

If you don't like my observance of Memorial Day:
__have the courtesy to bend the ear of someone who gives a damn what you think, cuz I DO NOT
__DO NOT mistake my failure to punch you in the mouth, as respect for your unasked for opinion.
__un-ass my lawn chair and depart from my AOR.
__celebrate your Memorial Day in the way you find appropriate.

I wish everyone a meaningful and "just right" for them Memorial Day. Lost loved ones would probably want it that way.

Oh (Expletive!) Memorial Day is not a competing Gospel, and the Unites States Government is not a competing God. Jesus himself was just fine dealing with both realities concurrently -- "Render to Ceasar the things that are Ceasar's, and to God the things that are God's."

"Former Christian"? That sounds like a story I want to hear more about.

It's simple, really. I was once a Christian, but no longer. Not since 2002-2003. The rest of the story is off-topic so I won't go into it.
