It'll be interesting to see how this turns out with senior female Marines not liking it, for the most part. Given how expensive the blue dress coat is, the required switch by the due date is going to cost a lot of female Marines a bunch of money. The coat looks okay on a tall slender Marine, but the short ones might have difficulty making it look sharp. As to the four-year wear-out date, the Corps has been doing that for many years to phase out the old and give Marines enough time to save up for the new. Since Marines seldom wear any uniform but camo utilities (except at places like MB 8th & I), I don't see any urgency here, except that some commanders will want all of their Marines to look uniform in the rare case of a dress parade. The main place they'll be showing off the new female blues will be at 8th & I.
