WASHINGTON — The Army and Marine Corps Joint Light Tactical Vehicle could be one option on the table as the Air Force seeks new vehicles for its security forces protecting missile-launch facilities.
The service is in the earliest stages of the process, and no decisions have been made on the number of vehicles needed or whether to opt for a military-specific or commercial product, officials told Defense News. Procurement by the Air Force would be an unexpected boon for JLTV manufacturer Oshkosh Defense, which is eagerly looking to add to its customer base.
At this point, requirements have been formalized by Air Force Global Strike Command and are currently being vetted by the Air Force’s Security Forces Center and the Vehicle Supply Chain Operations Squadron (VSCOS), Air Force spokesman Capt. Chris Mesnard said. Once they are set in stone, Air Force Materiel Command will take the lead in the acquisition process.

If the AF goes for them, I'll take one of the old Hummers, naturally at a fraction of their original cost.

Hopefully the USAF will select the Army and Marine Corps Joint Light Tactical Vehicle so that a common platform will be used by these three service which would streamline maintenance and logistics solutions TSgt Joe C.
I would expect that the Army's depot maintenance facility at Red River would be an optimum solution for depot maintenance for all three services vehicles.

Capt Tom Brown - Sir these are the replacement for the HMMWV,and answer is it is bigger than HMMWV, and not as mobile at least the first Generation that we used in Afghanistan. I believe they are working on 3rd or 4th by now. They should just take the ones the Marines, Navy and Army used and refurbish, and give to Airfroce. The reason in my eyes would be money, why do they need bran new vehicles, for a defensive type operation, they do not do convoys in high numbers to have that many. This is one of those cost overrun things or spending money twice we need to do away with.

Capt Tom Brown - I know not like us and USMC, we get that second hand stuff. They don't need some new cool Tactical Vehicle to stand defense.
