Cdr, hi, question is if F35s can do antisubmarine warfare. I happened to have tour of F35 plant in Fort Worth two weeks ago. I asked the staff a question that had come up at a Navy League meeting in NY several years ago if F35s can feed data into AEGIS, the command and control system for their task force. They said yes. Next question is if the F35s can do submarine detection. This article says the Navy has retired the most suitable plane for this mission. Perhaps the F35 and its high cost are not suited to this?

ASW is low and slow, hence the S-3, P-8, and SH-60.The F-35C does not have the low speed, high endurance of either the S-3 or P-8, and can't land on a destroyer to refuel.
