I survived two tours in the 60s, but I have always wanted to go back to visit. There is part of me in Vietnam, I have never forgotten that place. What a country, it's part of me and always will be. I wish I knew how to get there.

Actually the Vietnamese run an excellent tourist program for US Vets that want to return to the scene of their time there and Watching the Foodie Channel the Food Looks Yummy.

Excellently said "There is a part of me in Vietnam". I spent my youth there. I also would like to go back to the areas where I was stationed at, but don't think I can handle the heat anymore.

MAJ Vermillion-Sir,you hit the nail on the head with that statement "there is a part of me in Vietnam" every time I run into a fellow Vietnam vet there is always that unspoken moment of shared experiences no matter what branch or time served I guess it's the Vietnam in us all.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - I had the unfortunate experience of a Typhoon, 100 MPH winds . If you thought the monsoon season was bad ; there's no comparison of the two. Walk ways between the hootches were double stacked pallets, those walk way were covered when typhoon hit.

I must admit it was in some areas a beautiful place,minus the heat,the bugs,the monsoon rains,the triple canopy jungle,the jungle rot did I mention the f...ing rain yeah I think I'd rather go to Vegas.
