So Congress passes the VA ID card act in 2015 and the cards have not been made and its 2017. To cap that off the VA does not know how long it takes from point of application to point of delivery to the Veteran.// I got an idea. Lets let the government run healthcare. They are obviously on the ball with this program.

So, no shit there I was at the DMV sitting holding my number for 2 hours to get my sticker for my disabled veteran plates; had my DD214, VA letter and retiree ID card all in hand and the lady asks for my VA Card. Never bothered to get the card because I have my DD214, retiree ID and VA letter in my wallet. Got a lonnnng lecture about the importance of having my VA card and how I could miss out on veterans benefits because I didn't have one. I splayed out my DD214, Retiree ID card and VA letter and asked what the hell more ID, I could possibly present to show who and what I was. Thankfully the DMV manager recognized me and helped. Moral of the story... Go get your VA Card because some folks are just fricken dumb asses.

PO3 Bob McCord - aw heck man, everyone knows trucks are a bigger but more discreet weapon. OKC bombing, and the truck murders in Europe. Wonder there isn't an anti truck movement out there to keep trucks at one ton or less to decrease their tactical advantage and effective casualty radius.

Until I can use my VA Card to get on a plane, I’ll continue to use the old Retired ID Card. Have never been asked outside of the VA for a VA card and have had two different types since the retirement in ‘00. Have no idea what state you are from, but would have to take a swag that you live in the great Common Wealth of Virginia - where it a green card will get you a license and plates faster than your military credentials!

I feel for you - was fortunate to have not had the pleasure! A shame that your Federal creditials mean jack and shit when you retire... Everyone wants their States ID to shine. For some reason the DD Form 2 trumps the State ID being somewhere in the Federal lines of identification... But states like to toss their weight around and prove differently. I make them ask for their State ID just to screw with them, and then ask why my Federal form of ID isn’t good enough for their State?!?!?

Until the card Dynamics get sorted out, inquire at your state DMV office to see if they will put your veteran status on your driver's license. I would think they would be government IDs.
