Interesting piece. However, I doubt those in power will take it's advice. We continually forget the past and continually revisit it. Politicians start wars without the input or advice from the military. Or they completely ignore advice from military leaders while at the same time requiring the military to do their bidding, often with a failed result.

The best result would be for the politicians to give the military a goal and the military will decide how to accomplish it. Or decide if it can even be accomplished. The military is often not best solution to a problem.

It was Ronald Reagan that said it best that the president is in this bubble of information which is why he had an extensive kitchen cabinet of outside advisors come in and give their two cents because often times he felt he just couldn't rely on the information inside Washington alone and needed a second opinion.
