The nation and it's military must respond strategically to the effects of climate change as described in this article. However, the implied division between the Pentagon and the White House is non-existent. The White House is responding to claims that man is the principle actor in climate change and there is plenty of room for doubt. So called climate scientists has jiggered the data to make a case that was politically founded. Real climate scientists (of which there are very few) have dismissed their findings. Let's deal in facts. The strength of the American military is directly related to the strength of the nation's economy. Policies put in place while chasing the chimera of man-made climate change have adversely affected the economy and thus, adversely affected its defense. Thus, I see no conflict between Mattis and the President. Both are looking after the security of the nation.
