The film was quite good, though I found the book necessary and far more absorbing....

The movie was good but the book was great. As is often the case for books it was deeper and much more complex.

Thanks for letting us know Capt Daniel Goodman. I have neither read the book by Irwin Shaw not seen the movie, yet. I hope to be able to read the novel in the next few years.

You'll notice the plot differences, the book is rather long, the film couldn't cover all of it, obviously....
