A new list of career and technical certificate programs in high-growth job areas is being promoted by Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges in partnership with the Defense Department.

Colleges submitted their certificate programs for review. Criteria include cost falling within the limits of military tuition assistance, institutional commitment to accept credit for military training and experience where applicable, approval by the state's approving agency for Veterans Affairs benefits, accessibility to military installations, and compliance with governmental and organizational principles.

The certificates must also "fully integrate into other college-offered associate degree programs," according to the SOC website.

Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges is funded through a DoD-managed contract with the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.
