A clear example of 'What's the worst that could happen', especially
when the CIA is involved.

I wrote a novel about Castro's revolution from the time he arrived in Cuba with a band of about 80 "Fidelistas" (and all but eleven were killed as soon as they arrived) until Batista abandoned the government. One of the most interesting parts to me was a striking similarity between the last winter of Batista's regime and the last winter of the Confederate government in Richmond, VA. Both the Cuba revolution and the American Civil War were stalled by the weather. Both the Cuban government and the Confederate government continued business as usual despite their impending doom. Both fled before their opposing forces could launch their final attack. As I said, interesting coincidences...

History that I lived through - like most of the folks on these threads. Some scary moments there for a while.
