What good is it to improve the Infantry on the ground if our close air support in the air is broken or only has two instead of five or six trigger pulls to defend us? How is the infantryman supposed to survive if the F-35 runs out of ammunition and runs out of ordinance to drop on the enemy ? The F-35 is the John Candy ballerina of the air. It can't do everything oh, and if it does, it will never replace the A-10 Warthog! How many soldiers, Marines and other service members are going to die as well as the some of the pilots until the Air Force can figure out or realize that the F-35 is not a close air support platform!

I have some after thoughts, I was at a forward operating base in Western Afghanistan where we had one I say one 120mm mortar system at our disposal with a 7200 mm range. We once, after I left, had the dispatch close air support at all we were able to get was a B-1 Lancer bomber. In the future, we need to have the A-10 Warthog available. B-52s and B1 Lancers are nice. F-series fighter planes are okay as well but there is no substitute for the A-10 Warthog for close air support. We don't necessarily have a 155 or 105 battery at our disposal or within range like in our case.

Good point! I'm always trying to learn from you and others. If we had a couple Fighters escort or have OverWatch drain these close air support operations.
