There is a Supreme Court petition asking for 10,000 signature to get this over turned. Those who signed contracts with a guaranteed bonus should keep it. Just because the GUARD ADMINISTRATIVELY made a mistake by assigning/promising bonuses without verifying they had authority to do so should not fall back onto the Soldiers. If the Navy asked for their $30,000 back for my 6 year reenlistment, I'd say, "By all means; just as soon as you give me my 6 years back."

That's all well and good, but the Court moves slowly. In the meantime, many of the affected soldiers will either suffer financial hardship trying to pay back their bonuses or have their credit scores destroyed because they refuse to pay.

Update: The House of Representatives will be investigating. It looks like DoD will be directed to waive the repayments.
