SGT (Join to see) There is a theory that initially the young girls were suffering from ergot posing (a fungus that can grow in rye and grains and produces lysergic acid a componet of LSD). Later greed became involved in who was accused in an attempt to take land and get rid of undesirable people before the hysteria stopped. The practice of forcing the accused to confess and name others was the chief catalyst that drove Auther Miller to using The Crucible as an allegory about the MacCarthyism of the fifties.

Organized murders using god as a pretext, very profitable for some.

It is amazing through History how God was used as an excuse to commit evil acts against other people. If anyone thinks that problem has passed, it hasn't ! What many people have done in the name of religion in most religions was actually contrary to that religion's teachings. It's people doing the Devil's work and not even in some case being aware that's what they were doing or just being so evil it just provided an excuse to do harm to others. You mention profit and Yes that has been and still is being done for outright "Greed."

it is both against the main teachings of moths faiths but it is also withing specific teachings that contradict the main teachings. For example witch murder and killing her it is are agains the main teaching of Christianity but specific instructions justifying them also exist. Islam has the same problem. That is why I questions the sources of enspIred texts, would all powerful god be so sloppy?
