With antibiotic-resistant bacteria on the rise, scientists are urgently trying to find drugs that will work against persistent infections. But coming up with new ones does not have to be the only strategy.
A recent study published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences found that they can repurpose bithionol — a drug formerly used to treat parasitic infections in horses — to kill antibiotic-resistant bacteria, including MRSA, a common hospital-acquired infection.

It's a good piece, on an area I've long had a serious research interest in, however, I've long thought the only real way to deal with the problem was by immune response "education", if you will, altering it on a fundamental mathematical level, that's why I've long also had an equally serious interest in mathematical immunology, which, generally, is typically never discussed by bioscientists dealing with that whole problem, I've noticed, it's a really rather rarefied area, due to the sheer sophistication of the mathematical techniques involved in it, I've also observed....
