You are correct this is pretty important to Marines. This history is taught in Boot Camp, carried on in tradition, and is even in the Marine Hymn. Great Post!

PO2 Mark Saffell
Noticed one of the ships names. USS Hornet. As we all know that name was used on carrier that saw action during WWII
