Maj Marty Hogan, here's a tidbit to add to the Boy Scouts' slide. "Troop 1 of Brentwood, Tennessee also holds claim to be the oldest continually chartered Boy Scout Troop in the United States, having been continuously chartered since 1910. Troop One holds the distinction of only having three Scoutmasters in its over 104-year history." This troop is one of many to make the claim to be the first.
However, they are sponsored by my church and the scoutmaster is a friend of mine with whom I ushered (at church) for many years. It's an excellent organization. PV2 David Minnicks LTC Stephen F. SP5 Mark Kuzinski

Thanks for sharing Maj Marty Hogan significant events of February 8.
Because of the impact on the British isles where my heritage lies most significant to be is 1587: Queen Mary of Scotland is beheaded at Fotheringhay Castle in England after she was implicated in a plot to murder her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I.
I am posting a song by Fairport Convention from the 1960's titled Fotheringhay

2. Because of my interest in the US Civil War, I consider 1862: Civil War - Battle of Roanoke Island, North Carolina that ended in victory for Union forces led by Gen. Ambrose E. Burnside, significant. The North Carolina coastline was the scene of many battles during the Civil War.
Thanks for mentioning me LTC Stephen C.
