SGT (Join to see) I have just ordered 4 books, 2 Constitution, the Federalist Papers, the Bill of Rights. Now, I understand how in some background of catching spy's the litmus test of "an American" would not have known the answer.
What I mean is this, I did not become intelligently concerned about the laws of the land until a naturalized Muslim said to me that citizens of the US know less about their rights than foreigners. This was about 15 years ago. I purpose to add to my home library books that have been dismissed by the movement of society at-large. I have emphasized to my son to read from my library and teach his children to do so, when he has them.

Very good comment. The older amongst us learned most of this in school then forgot it. A lot of younger students these days aren't even taught much of this, let alone having the chance to forget it. Foreigners on the other hand MUST learn all this and are tested on their knowledge before they are allowed to become US citizens. Big difference in what you learn and retain when you are faced with life changing results vs getting a passing grade.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen thank you for understanding me. I try so hard to not sound un-American that sometimes the points I'm trying to articulate goes missing. I truly believe the Constitution and the Bill of Rights should be taught as a discipline and not glazed over in Civics or Political Science.

PO3 Phyllis Maynard Agree completely, my grandson, now a college Sophmore, received very little on either Constitution or Bill of Rights in high school. And he was in AP classes.

I am reading a novel written from the point of view of Alexander Hamilton's wife. The politics was just as ugly back then. It's a wonder the Constitution was written and signed.
