The Babi Yar Massacre was probably the worst killing spree in history. I’ve visited some of the concentration camps while I was going to school in Germany; was mandatory by my school to go there and the horror of those sites can’t be described. The Dachau Camp I visited several times and this last time I went while visiting Germany, I was quite disappointed over all the changes they’ve made the still told the story but took away that horrible feeling you used to get when going there. The entry to the gas chamber and the rooms that were close to it, were no longer part of it and I felt that this was the most important part to remember to keep it from happening ever again. The last time it was still part of the tour, it felt as if you could still smell death and the gas and you usually came out without a dry eye. I pray to God that something like this will not be repeated ever; Syria’s president comes to close to trying to repeat it. The other thing that really hit was the mentioning of the Space Shuttle that blew up. I was watching the whole thing on TV in Korea while being on CQ duty at the time; definitely reminded me of the feeling that came over me as I watched it, was not a replay that i saw, was the event as it was happening. Another thing i pray won’t repeat itself again. Thanks so much Sir for the History Debrief!
