We had Hanoi Hannah, but didn't need her. Our own journalists provided enough anti-war propaganda. Our own neighbors harassed our families without any prompting from the enemy (which is why most of us requested no hometown news releases announcing our service). And there were plenty of "peace-loving" demonstrators waiting to welcome us home with hate and vitriol. And our favorite pin ups posed with the enemy or spoke of their sympathy for their "cause". Yes, psyops were most effective in those days which may explain today's high suicide rate among Vietnam Vets.

When we arrived in many ports, our liberty was restricted to the base for a day or two because of the anti-war demonstrations. That included Alameda, California our home port...65-68.

The press has only has gotten worse by their unabashed entry directly into the political, social, and cultural fray as active participants taking sides and using the 'power of the press' to directly influence opinion. Rather than be objective reporters of the scene, they have become a principle tool of propaganda by either side.

not many people know that she graduated from Compton High School, Compton, California. When my brother went to Compton High in the 50's, she had a trophy window with her accomplishments while she was a student at Compton High, home of the 'Tarbabes'...
