A co-worker of mine has ALS, and I have learned a lot about it since he was first diagnosed. In his case only his throat muscles are affected. So he has difficulty speaking and eating large amounts of food. His is linked to Gulf War Syndrome.

A very good friend of mine succumbed to ALS recently. She was diagnosed fairly quickly. Unfortunately, she declined very rapidly and died within a year of her diagnosis. It is terribly debilitating and doesn't effect everyone the same way. I learned a lot when she was diagnosed, but did not know some of these facts especially as it pertains to veterans. Thank you for enlightening me more, Jacqeem. I really appreciate it.

Don't know of anyone that had this terrible muscular destroying disease, lost a cousin to M S, and have a great nephew born with a muscular disorder.
