Well, I actually think it should be a unanimous verdict for conviction. While I understand the majority vote is historical precedent, that doesn't make it right. It's not that way in the civilian world as Oregon just lost majority vote convictions. It shouldn't be that way in military courts either.

While I don't think 50%+1 should be the standard, I am OK with dissects in verdicts. 75% seems reasonable to me. There is no other place in American culture than unanimous is the standard. Not even in the judiciary. Appellate courts and SCOTUS use a majority standard. Congress is majority most of the time, occasionally 60% or 66%. Elections are majority or sometimes even plurality. With the standard being "beyond a reasonable doubt" - which is a very high standard - I don't have a problem with a conviction that had one or two folks disagreeing.
