Some of the Solen Valor videos were appropriate, and served their purpose. A LOT more of these videos where the vet is screaming at someone, slapping them, and being really unprofessional made us look bad, and even some of the FB sites stopped showing them. It was only made worse when the old Marine who had dementia (he had something mentally wrong), was filmed and harassed by younger Marines who thought they were doing the "right" thing. It turned out the Elderly E8 Marine WAS in fact an ACTUAL Marine, ALL the decorations he had WERE his, just in the wrong order. Late last year a Marine was beat up over Stolen Valor, because he didn't have his ID card....even though he explained he EAD'd, so he WOULDN'T have one on him. The "Ranger" Staff was called out, but he had the last laugh on Youtube telling everyone he could do what he was doing and will continue with it. No matter how I feel about it, wearing the uniform is legal, parading around in it is legal, using it to pick up women is legal, only until you use it to get or solicit money (correct me if I'm wrong). If being able to make a video bashing someone and you don't know the background, just feel like being a douche, assaulting someone, or "making them famous" is the military thing for today, then as much as I want to be back in, I'm GLAD I'm out. This is about the elderly Marine who was called out.

You are correct Sir, but when in doubt just move on. I would rather let 1,000 fakes walk by than jump one real vet. Some of these old timers just put on their medals in no real order because for them it was almost 50 years ago. Nice post and it shows what I was talking about with older vets.

A1C (Join to see) - I agree with you. When these videos are made and the person begins acting like an ass, it just resonates with the general public we're a bunch of self-serving immature savages. To make it worse, when you physically beat up another vet, what are we telling the public? We've now just become our own worst enemies.

SSG Warren Swan - This was the guy I was thinking of. It breaks my heart that when he came home of Vietnam he was not loved and had to hide the fact he was a vet and now when Vietnam vets are starting to get a little love some jackass goes and takes that away from this hero. This hurts more than pointing our all the fakes.

SSG Warren Swan - My Dad still to this day does not wear anything related to the military from his time in Vietnam. If he ever did and someone jumped him I would lose my mind.

Yes, we do. I recently saw where a real vet from Vietnam was jumped at the airport. You have to have some screw loose to even want to fake this stuff.

A1C (Join to see) - Unfortunately some real vets, especially our Vietnam vets are being attacked, labeled as fakes because their uniforms aren't perfect. Its a shame that it comes to this because some people want to be heroes, but never served.
