Little known fact about her: she was the only carrier to have 8 reactors. Bad-assed, indeed.

Yes. Tell me something; most ships I've seen have the engine room amidships. In doing so aren't you robbong the ship[ of additional power?

SSG Warren Swan - I've never seen a ship with the engine room amidships. I think what you're thinking of is the pump room, which almost always is forward of the engine room. Some ships have another pump room towards the bow. But I've never seen a ship, Navy or Merchant, that had the engine room amidships. On every ship I've ever been on, liquid tanks are forward of the engine room and pump room (tanks that hold fuel, avgas, bunkers, potable water, ballast, etc.). Fun fact, on most ships, there are two compartments that, when flooded, virtually guarantee a trip to Davey Jones' locker: the engine room, and the pump room.

SSG Warren Swan I had an opportunity to tour the Enterprise and the Reagan several years ago. Impressive war ships.

SN Greg Wright Only if that is actually a picture of BB-61 the USS Iowa. I am kind of biased because I am originally from Iowa after all......
