My heart goes out to this cyclist. These are pictures of injuries suffered last year when an intellect challenged mutant ran me off the road and did not stop. I was doing about 18 MPH and then all I remember is feeling the rush of air as this creep,in his Blue Ford F-150 with West Virginia Tags, blew by me at @06:30 in the morning just South of Greencastle, PA. It was light out, I had on reflective gear and two flashing tail lights and was riding on the shoulder in the direction of traffic. People stopped to help and they called an ambulance and the police as I was sitting on the side of the road in disbelief. The story at the Bike shop is that I took my bike in prior to going to see my Doctor to make sure my bike was O.K. The actual story is that I did stop at the bike shop later in the day after an Emergency Room visit that said I was OK (except for the scrapes and bruises). Nevertheless, the owner (a USMC Vet) said that I was lucky to be alive and he was right. I ride later in the day now and pay more attention to my rear view mirror.

Ouch that had to hurt like a son of a gun! Not going to correct you but I was always taught to ride into traffic so some idiot can't pick you off from behind? Did they change that? Glad he is okay.

It was me that was injured (I was referring to the guy in Texas when I said "..this cyclist.. " and yeah - it hurt like hell (especially my hip). But I was able to continue to ride in a week (can't keep an old soldier down). Unfortunately in Maryland / Pennsylvania you must to ride with the traffic so you need to pay attention to your rear view mirrors.
