I think it's more of a .17 HMR sales pitch. I'll put my A17 up against your AR varmint hunting any day. If some aftermarket company would design a larger metal magazine for them, It would be on.

Been wanting a .17. Shot a friends last month. Don't remember model. Wood stocked Savage.

Thanks. Looking for a good 50 to 75 yard critter control rifle, think groundhog.

50 to 75 is under utilizing the weapon. but it'll do that all day long with 1" or less groupings.

I'd takes a shot at t ground hog out to 200 yards without worry. My Savage .17 HMR will explode those little 6 ounce water bottles with boring consistency. Head of a ground hog is about the same size.
