The Nazis marched into people's homes and confiscated anything they wanted.

There's still quite a bit of Persian/Farsi art floating around out there on the black market as well. Quite valuable. Virtually untraceable.

Yes, that as well. The FBI formed a team to search for those pieces, as there was considerably more cataloging and provenance. Some was recovered. The ancient pieces from what is now Iran are like dust in the wind. There is speculation amongst Ancient Art Historians that a portion of the antiquities were sent to Macedonia when Alexander defeated Darius. ( I think that's a little far-fetched, but possible ) A few VERY old Sumerian pieces are in museums.
