I can already tell some people won't be happy with this. I've met folks in ReHab type environments that just don't care about going to jail. In jail they're getting 3 squares and a bed.

This is one of those...I hope they know what they are doing type of bills.
The fact that it was bi-partisan makes me worried but in a weird way gives me hope it at least passes the smell test.

Someone is always unhappy with any legislation that gets passed. The 3 strikes bill was too broad ranging imo

The problem with Prison is that it doesn’t deter hardened criminals. The only folks afraid of prison are the folks that will never see it. Law abiding citizens are afraid of jail, but not crooks.
I am a big fan of 3 strikes as it reduced crime in California a bunch. However, it was overly broad on one hand and didn’t provide much leeway for judges in other cases. Sometimes folks got caught up in 3 strike that probably shouldn’t have been.
Hopefully this new law will even things out a bit, but only time will tell.
