It was a one year confinement sentence and that was probably "because Saucier destroyed key evidence including his laptop computer, a camera and a memory card after an interview with the FBI in 2012". The obstruction charge led to confinement otherwise bet they would've just discharged him. Either way, he got what he deserved for knowingly violating the law.

My Cousin served on the USS Annapolis. A submarine. And this has nothing to do with this. He told me that they are not even allowed to bring there cell phones onboard.

This is a pardon I can get behind. What he did was wrong. Did he deserve to be Courts-Martialed for it? No. Maybe an Article-15 but not such a serious charge or sentence as he received. I hope President Trump pardons him or at the least, commutes his sentence.
