Trump can name the enemy. Obama can't. I don't expect anyone to tell me how to defeat ISIS until they have access to all of the Intel. At this point, we must be satisfied with the one fact that the candidate for whom we vote is determined to defeat them. We haven't had that for almost eight years now.

But he's not going to anything different. He is going to do the same thing that Bush and Obama did (get troops on the ground and strike with drones). The only thing is he'll do different is instead of working on nation building, he'll make the US an occupying force, much like Russia in Crimea. "Great plan."

SSG Michael Hartsfield - "The only thing is he'll do different is instead of working on nation building..." The only thing? That's a big thing. Nation building is the thing that has stood in the way of our accomplishing a realistic mission in the Middle East. Trying to recreate a "mini me" of the US is a fools errand. It keeps us from focusing on killing the bad guys and until an infantryman occupies a piece of ground and either kills or captures the bad guy, nothing is accomplished. Call it "occupation" if you like. However, once the job is done, occupation ends. Sure, I expect we'll have to go back from time to time (just like you have to mow the grass regularly - it's a tiresome but necessary chore)

Excellent comment CPT Jack Durish. SPC Andrew Griffin I really didn't think Obama had a plan. He can not call it for what it is in this country but he has no problem calling it what is is when it happens in France.

Let's look at them:
-- Partnering with Jordan and Egypt? Check - One man takes a "mean guy" photo on a plane and the US goes nuts swearing he's harder than chicken lips. What has he done that we have not since then? Place a man on the moon? Deploy Troops to an area NEAR him? That last part only makes sense. But hey he took a mean guy pouty pic and Obama didn't.
-- Working with NATO? Check - To some this would be part of the problem, yet part of the solution. But Turkey just showed why we cannot put our full trust in them when they damn near had their base on lockdown...with us and our nukes in it. NOTHING could go wrong there...right?
-- Cutting off ISIS funding? Check - we know very well it is not an easy thing to just cut off money given to terrorist orgs. Al Queda proved that, and ISIS is well known to have one of the best marketing campaigns on earth. Promise nothing, get everything. The US Military is the exact opposite, and we were having issues making quota.
-- Cyber warfare against ISIS? Check - This is extremely important, but since it doesn't have the "glamor" of a SOF force in beards and Budweiser going in killing everything in sight, then going on Faux news to advertise later on, no one really pays attention unless you're part of that scene. That blackhatter can wreak more hell before PT formation than a division of Paratroopers. It's not degrading the Paratroopers, it's highlighting that more and more of "war" is being played out on operating systems NOT by operators themselves. To prove my point, I have respect for them. I'm gonna use the 82nd for example; please correct me if wrong. The 82 can be ANYWHERE in the world kicking ass in 18 hours or less right? That blackhatter can be anywhere in the world in 10 keystokes. He might not be on a mission to destroy, but to observe and report. Could you imagine the Rangers CDR asking NSA to shut the power down to an airport and he takes that airport...then asks for the power to be turned on? At his leisure? This is where we're headed. Bullets are required. But the ability to hack cars, trains, planes, and ships has been demonstrated to success, Guess the future? BTW that GPS you're using has also been hacked to show how to steer ships, planes, cars and anything else that uses it.
-- Decimating al Qaeda? Check - to some, unless you have an "accurate" body count ala Nam, it's not working. How did it work in Nam? How long before the mistakes and lies were discovered? We've used everything short of one weapon in 15 years. What have we gotten? Twp Presidents using the same ideas with the same results have netted us some cool names, but we're taking ground we gave back 10 years ago. Maybe it IS time for a CWO or SPC to tell us how bad we're really messing up?

If we did as Trump has proposed in regards to "vetting" NO ONE would be allowed in unless you're from a former Soviet Bloc country and was a model at one time. All of our allies are having terrorist issues he doesn't want here, and none "vet" like we do. So no new imports except illegal wives of the rich aka sex trade.

I like it, keep Assad in power, let him loose on the terrys. Trump said the same thing about Hussein, a dictator over a vacuum he prefers. This tantrum over letting Assad stay has caused turmoil. The US didn't do anything about Assad almost 5 years ago, the 'line has been crossed'. The people fled, President Obama's plan in Syria is like Solyndra- a failure. Not just a Presidential blemish, the US involvement will go down in history as a big black eye to our reputation. Thanks! Obama Hillary/Kerry & whoever else
